WRO India 2025 National Champions: Meet the Teams Taking India to the World Stage

India’s journey in robotics reached an electrifying milestone at the WRO India National Championship 2025, held at the state-of-the-art GMR Arena, GMR Aerocity, Hyderabad. The event brought together the nation’s brightest young innovators under one roof, united by a shared passion for creativity, technology, and problem-solving.

For those unfamiliar, the World Robot Olympiad® (WRO) is one of the world’s premier robotics competitions, held annually across 90+ countries. Since its introduction to India in 2006 with just 13 teams, WRO India has grown into a movement — inspiring 15,000+ teams and over 38,500 students this year alone.

After months of preparation, regional championships across nine major cities — Chandigarh, Chennai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Delhi — paved the way for the grand Nationals in September 2025.

This year’s theme, “Future of Robots”, challenged participants to imagine how robotics could solve pressing real-world problems and transform industries. From eco-friendly robots tackling climate issues to AI-driven systems for healthcare and smart automation, the theme opened the doors for boundless creativity.

The competition featured four exciting categories, each designed to push participants beyond their limits:

  • Future Innovators (FI): Problem-solving projects tackling global challenges with robotics.
  • RoboMission (RM): Intense mission-based challenges testing design, programming, and adaptability.
  • Future Engineers (FE): Engineering-inspired challenges encouraging advanced mechanical and software design.
  • RoboSports (RS): A dynamic, game-style robotics challenge blending fun with fierce competition.

Over 700 teams and 2,000+ participants competed fiercely at the Nationals, while an enthusiastic audience of 5,000+ attendees — including parents, mentors, and STEM enthusiasts — created an atmosphere buzzing with energy. The championship wasn’t just about winning medals; it was about collaboration, creativity, and a vision of the future led by robotics.

About National Champions Season 2025 Announcement

After two days of non-stop energy, innovation, and competition, the WRO India 2025 National Champions were crowned. These exceptional teams now hold the honor of representing India on the global stage — at the WRO International Final in Singapore (26–28 November 2025) and the WRO Open Championship in Jubail, Saudi Arabia (24–26 October 2025).

This year, a total of nine teams qualified for the International Final in Singapore across all categories, while two teams earned their spots in the Open Championship in Saudi Arabia. Together, these young innovators will showcase India’s ingenuity alongside over 500 teams from around the world.

It’s important to note that alongside international qualifiers, Special Awards were also presented at the Nationals. These awards celebrated creativity, technical brilliance, and teamwork — such as Best Robot Design, Team Spirit, and Startup Idea. While these awards do not lead to international progression, they recognize the unique contributions of teams that stood out for their innovation and dedication.

The announcement of winners was met with thunderous applause, proud smiles from coaches and parents, and the determination of participants to aim even higher in the future.
